Our Favourite Looks From Dior’s Haute Couture Circus
Maria Grazia Chiuri’s show inspired by Christian Dior’s love of the Circus looks absolutely to die for!
We love the almost-marigold colour of the gown, not to mention the all over pleats. The cross body top adds that contrast avoiding total curtains feel. My favourite look has to be the short skater skirt dress with an underskirt. The banners of differing colour sequins and tassles is so delicate and stunning.
We also noticed the nod to Dior’s SS17 tarot card show dress, but the addition of the black top and sheer sleeves was a gorgeous addition to the new take on the gown from the previous collection.
The show hosted at the Musée Rodin was also accompanied by an all female circus company Mimbre. Whilst we can’t really condone the unethical history of the circus towards performance animals, the entertainment aspect of the catwalk was quite something.

With the Dior Spring-Summer 2019 Haute Couture show, #MariaGraziaChiuri offered one jaw-dropper after the next. As if the circus tent setting and the gravity-defying performances by @MimbreAcrobats weren't already enough, she took the circus theme and combined it with the best of the House's savoir-faire, sending out short dresses and playsuits that burst to colorful life, tailoring trimmed with embroidered frogging, and vaporous evening gowns of the kind of which dreams are made! #DiorCouture #DiorDreamParade
The make-up at Dior, spearheaded by Peter Phillips, was inspired by Pierrot clowns. Kohl liner was used around the eyes and pulled down whilst the rest of the face was kept fairly plain and simple.
